Has anyone been able to connect to their laptop via Airdrop with iOS 7.

I have a macbook pro and an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 and neither can see each other.

Bluetooth is on, on both and both on same WiFi network.

Any thought?

It does not work between iPhones and computers. There was a story early on that it had something to do with blocking piracy, but I don’t believe that story at all... bottom line is that, at least for now, it doesn’t work between platforms.

Rene Ritchie has mentioned Desk Connect as an alternative... says it works extremely well... there is a piece for your Mac and another for your device - both free.

I too was disappointed that AirDrop doesn't work between iOS and Mac OS. I have Mavericks and it doesn't work there either so it will still be a little while but I think eventually it will happen. I'm for sure going to try that app out Fausty mentioned.

Hello,
Is anyone having any #airdrop issues with multiple devices on the same icloud account.

ex 1: I send an airdrop to my sons iphone and they both show my wifes name as sender and receiver.

ex 2: I send an airdrop to a friend and it still shows my wife's name as the sender from my phone.

not sure what the issue can be except that it picks her name because it is alphabetically first.

@ torontowireless. are you using the same icloud account for yours, your wife, and son's iPhones? If so you need to set all up with unique icloud accounts to change. you can still use the same acount for itunes and app store though.

@ihammy : I'm having the same issues with AirDrop as TorontoWireless, but I have a questions with regards to your suggestion with creating all new "separate" iCoud accounts on all of my family's devices. I know we would all still be able to share music and apps, but will I then eliminate my ability to track all of my family's devices on "Find My Phone" app on my iPhone or using my iCloud online account? Doesn't that feature utilize iCloud? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Todd

this is a bummer - hopefully it's enabled in Mavericks.
