Bluetooth issues?

I can get the BT to initially connect to my car to play music. However if I shut either off or they get disconnected, neither one can reconnect. I have to unpair, turn them both off, then try again. That's highly annoying and inconvenient. Before I give up and go back to using my Note 3 for media, any suggestions or accessories I can buy to aid the connection?

I have also been having problems connecting with my TrackR keychain finder using Bluetooth

I had the issue on both iOS 8 and iOS 7.
