Notifications not appearing on lock screen

On my new iPhone 5, I cannot get notifications to appear on the lock screen. Everything I have configured appears when I pull down notification center, but the lock screen itself remains blank. On my iPhone 4 running iOS5.1, the alerts still show up on the lock screen. Anybody have an idea how to get this behavior back?

Rebooted phone for another reason, and now it works...
