Default What's the best way to upgrade to io6 OTA?

I plan on upgrading to io6 today OTA and can't remember the way I did with 5.0. What's the best way to upgrade?

The "best" way, in *my* opinion, is to update via iTunes and either reset as new or restore from the most recent backup and the "convenient" way is arguably OTA.

Also, I suggest doing the following before you update:

    1. Transfer your photos, videos, wallpaper, music and other important stuff to a computer, flash drive or external hard drive.

    2. If you don't have an Apple TimeCapsule, write down your Wi-Fi password and have it readily available.

    3. This is covered in the first point, but I suggest you backup the contents of any password storage apps to a computer, flash drive, external hard drive or the like.

    4. If you have iOS 5 or later, make an iCloud backup

    5. If your contacts are stored only on your phone, export them.

    6. Take a screenshot of your home screens and save them to your computer.

Just back up via iCloud, then update OTA. Clean install is a myth now (used to be true).

This is only true if you haven't been jail broken since your last install...

I've only had my iPad 3 for about 2 weeks so I just have all of my apps and a few photos on it. I connected it to iTune a little while ago and will do a Cloud backup now and then, wait to check for an update in less than an hour.

Updating OTA is indeed a convenience and nothing more because it installs only the minimum data needed to upgrade whereas iTunes does a complete overhaul. I am one that says if you're going to take the time to update, go all out and fully upgrade, but that's Just Me, D. I don't want my iPhone and iPad patched. I want them erased and then restored with a freshly downloaded and complete operating system.
