Has iOS 6 slowed down your 4S?
I know when Apple released iOS 4 it slowed down the 3G, and people were saying iOS 5 slowed down the 3GS + the 4 slightly. For those who have installed the beta of iOS 6 on their 4S, have you noticed any slow downs on the phone, or does it seem faster? I ask because I'm wondering whether or not Apple will make this update slow the 4S down so people go out and buy the 5 when it comes out.
Thanks. - 06-17-2012, 10:58 PM #2
It seemed the same to me so far I mean it's only beta 1 but I didn't notice any lag or anything .. Then again in my opinion the changes from 5 to 6 are more minor than 4 to 5

Safari is much faster for me. However being in beta, sometimes debugging is enabled, which increases overhead.

Same as it was, except as a lot have stated, the browser is quite a bit faster.

Safari is way faster for me, however music skips like a dirty cd often!

everything is running fast for me, email I have no problems with, the only time I have experienced a slow down was while in the app store and that is most likely because of the on going changes being made right now.

the slowest part of iOS6 beta 1 on my 4S is the music player... sometimes slow to skip tracks... everything else seems equal or faster to iOS 5... Safari as others have mentioned feels noticeably faster, but could just be how it's loading content... overall, pretty stable for a 1st beta...

Launching apps seems slower but skipping songs is the worst

Please note that iOS 6 is in beta. We shouldn't base our decision on software that has bugs and hence the beta tag is applied in order for all the beta users to report them.
Whether or not it's faster than iOS 5, we have to wait and see until its official release. - 07-09-2012, 11:25 AM #20
the more i use ios6 on my 4S... the slower it seems to be getting... with jb 4.1 running pretty smooth on my gnex... might put the iphone on the shelf for a while...

Well, as we get closer to the GM release, the betas should be getting faster. I heard beta 3 is about to be released

OK, it's been two months since the last post on this thread. I'm on the fence about iOS6 because I obviously don't want to slow down my 4S. I won't be upgrading to the iPhone 5 for a few months after it releases.
Using the later betas, has the music skipping issue been resolved? I know that everyone states Safari is much faster....how well does signal lock on and how is battery life?
Thanks in advance for your responses. - 09-10-2012, 12:30 PM #23

Runs fine on my 4S. Beta 4. Haven't had lag problems or anything of that nature. For the most part, I think
people who complain about how much the phone slows down are people who don't restore as new. Instead,
they just restore a backup and sometimes that could cause some issues deep within the OS. Especially
when making a jump from something like 5.1.1 to 6.0 - 09-10-2012, 02:50 PM #25
Yes I agree, a clean install is the better way to take !
