Syncing Genius Data?

What is this exactly and is there a way to turn it off when I perform a sync?

The Genius is a feature that can recommend apps, music and such, based on what you already have. The data is minuscule and not a size worth worrying about. It just updates to your iOS device to carry over any new info on recent stuff you may have added.
