Default Wifi sync doesn't happen automatically

    Hi all-

So wifi sync works great on my iPhone if I go into settings and manually select "sync now" from the iPhone, but it doesn't automatically sync when I plug it into a power source like it should. I made sure iTunes was up and running and it just doesn't work unless I manually do it from the phone. Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Mine worked. ITunes was not up and running. I plugged my phone into power outlet (not into the PC), and a few moments later, ITunes opened and it synced.

NOTE - I am using a PC running Windows 7.

have you tried restaring the phone and the computer?

I just figured it out. In iTunes Preferences>>Devices, I had "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically" checked. I unchecked that and it worked like a charm automatically once I plugged it in to the wall.

Great info. Does it sync every time you plug it into the wall like if i'm doing a quick charge before I go out? Also, what happens when you unplug it and/or exit a wi-fi area?

Yes it syncs every time I plug it in. You have to be on the same wifi network that your iTunes is on and it should work. If you exit that wifi area, the sync will not work.

I haven't tried this feature yet, but are you saying it won't work if your iTunes is on a hard-wired computer? My Mac Mini is hard wired into the wi-fi router, but I have the wi-fi off.

I haven't tried it on a hard wired computer. My Mac is set up for wi if and is not connected by a cable to the router.

I can't get wifi sync to work on either of my devices (iPad 2 and iPhone 4S), both updated to iOS5, connected to our own personal wifi network, same as my Windows 7 x64 laptop. No luck whatsoever, any help?
