Batch or Bulk Delete of Photos in iOS5?

Does anyone know how to do a batch or bulk delete of photos in iOS5? Under prior versions, the method was pretty easy. However, I updated to v5 this morning, and now I have to manually select each photo and then delete it. Any insight to this would be fantastic.

In your camera roll, tap the little arrow in the upper right hand corner. Then tap each photo you want to delete and finally tap the Delete button at the bottom.

I know how to do it that way, but it used to be that you could hold your finger on one, then drag across all of the ones and it would select them as a group. Tapping individually can take forever if you have a lot of images to delete (from an import at a photo shoot for example).

Are we talking iPhone or iPad? I don't believe I ever had that functionality on my iPhone.

I only have an iPad, so that is where I know it from.
