Hi Marc, Yahoo is finicky for me also, but this goes back to when i still was using my bb9650. Yahoo would send email, then it wouldnt. Some days i'd rec'd email and some days it just wasnt working(rarely tho). Now i see the same pattern on my iPhone on occassion but not often. SO i know its not my phone because my AOL works fine. Ever since Yahoo changed their TOS a few mths ago, that when i started noticing the difference btw.
Also with Yahoo, sometimes i get the "connection to server failed-cannot get email" now with that idk if my wifi has lost signal for a moment at that second when i open my email for yahoo, or if its Yahoos servers. Because i'm then able to back out and go right back in, & if there was mail to come in it shows up. Crazy i tell ya !!
So, just a suggestion that i can think of for you that may help. Delete that Yahoo account from your iPhone, do a reset (hold home button and top right button down together till you see the apple then let go--ignore the 'slide to power off'). Once you reboot, re-add that email address and see how it goes. If your still having issues i'd suggest calling Apple or going to the GB if you have one near you and see what they have to say.

I haven't had any issues with Y! for the last 2 months. May be it is some server overload or problem.
But one thing is for sure - with hotmail there are ALWAYS problems.
i dont use hotmail at all. But with my Yahoo, when a hiccup does occur its only when i'm on wifi. And i have noticed in the past month there have been things going on in my area with the internet here and there. Like today, i'm sure with all the Christmas gifts and everyone accessing the net, our connection has been up then goes out for 10mins, then comes back, then goes back out for 2 mins. etc. On any 'normal' day this doesnt happen on the other hand, so thats why i'm not worried about it right now
EDIT: just to add, i'm accessing my Yahoo mail from my laptop atm, and its acting wonky....

Mine's working fine, but I have noticed it is a tad bit slow, and not as "on the ball" as my other accounts.
Hotmail still exists??? lol...that's so...90's.

I have had problems since converting to iPhone 4 from my Blackberry. I have always done fin with Yahoo on my Berry and receiving it timely on others sources (i.e., PC, etc.).
Whenever I have a period of delay, I have tried one of the many things (i.e., reboot, restore, delete/readd, etc) and that will clear things, temporarily.
I have been frustrated with it and have finally gotten in touch with a senior specialist for iOS. While I cannot tell for sure that the "problem" is being investigated, I feel confident that this support rep will continue to update my case. Whenever I identify delayed push mail, I take a screenshot and email it to him to include in my case file.
The rep's name/contact info I have been dealing with is:
I am so frustrated at times that I am thinking about changing my Yahoo mail to Fetch/15 from Push. I don't think that would effect my battery enough to make a difference (heck I am doing tons of manually update now just to make sure I am up to date), I may leave it on Push for now so I can get a few more screen grabs to send to my case file with Apple.
Robert did mention that the general release of the iOS update is due within a couple of weeks. While he is not sure there is anything in there that might help my situation, he did suggest waiting for that to see if there are any changes. He also noted as a possibility swapping out the phone, but I would rather not do that unless I felt fairly strongly that this was the right course of action.
Who knows what will come of this if anything. At least I feel like [I]someone[I] is listening.
I had this problem early on when I was playing with settings. In your mail settings, under Fetch New Data, first, make sure Push is On (obviously), but also make sure Fetch is not set to Manually. Even though it shouldn't matter, I found that even though my Yahoo account was set to Push, it wouldn't work when I set the Fetch interval to Manually; when I chose one of the other settings, Push started working again.
