I'd choose the iPad Air 2 because I have a new iPhone 6S Plus which takes great photos and I'd love to be able to have the larger iPad to be able to show those photos off at family gatherings.

As much as I'd love to have an iPad Air 2 to use, I'd choose the iPhone 6s because my dad has an almost 4 year old BlackBerry Z10 and he could really use the upgrade but he's the type that doesn't get something new until what he was using completely disintegrates into dust.
