Can the forums be changed to automatically lock a post after x days/weeks/months without a post?

There was someone today reopening lots of old-some over 2 years old-posts which is pretty annoying.

I can't see the upper level admins locking down the forums like that. Sometimes people are searching for a answer and find old threads. Then they ask a question on that old and somebody else may come along help with a answer. The threads are dated and time stamped from when they are started. If its bothersome, just skip over the threads.

Unfortunately, you can't make everyone happy, either.

I cannot count how many times I've read posts from self appointed forum police telling people "Do a search for relevant threads before starting a new one" or some similar BS.
That makes me smh. That's like going to a restaurant and complaining when the waiter brings the food you've just ordered.

I agree with you. People tell other people to search. Not always the most warm welcome to new members. But if we auto close old threads, that really takes the search option away as users can't post on old threads. We also welcome people to create a new one if they wish. It's best if people save choices. To do what works best for them without others bringing them down.
