Removing pre-installed apps in iOS 10 doesn't 'delete' them entirely, but there's a good reason for

Uninstalling the pre-installed apps in iOS 10 will remove them from the home screen on your iPhone or iPad and delete all the associated user data, but as the apps are integrated into iOS 10, the application binaries will stay intact.

Makes sense I suppose. Has there been any discussion on assigning new default apps for deleted stock apps? For example, if I delete Mail, can I reassign another app as default for handling email?
