I also regret we don't get similar outrage when we post links to horror movies, Game of Thrones, or violent video games. I can't watch any of that stuff (literally makes me ill), but as a society we seem absolutely okay with it. (I don't in any way mean to equate any of those things with porn, but I do think many of our cultures are way more accepting of violence than they are of sex.)

I'm not saying we wouldn't cover Game of Thrones or violent games or whatever — we do even though I personally don't like them — but I do kinda regret we don't get blasted for that too.

I see where your point is, but to equate Game of Thrones and violent video games with outright porn is like saying Rembrandt's art should be regarded on the same level as an erotic photographer's work. Porn is sex done by real people for the viewing enjoyment of their viewers, and, ask anyone around, it is a little far-fetched to say if iMore allows violent video games to be covered, Porn should be as well. If so, nothing is barred then, and that would make the landscape (a supposedly family friendly environment) very grey in here I'm afraid.

Maybe we can all come to the consensus that there are a large number of people that are offended by the idea and maybe this thread should be deleted. This is a family friendly atmosphere After reading justme'd last comment I could even throw up in disgust.

I mean, just on the basis on pure editorial terms, this blog post shouldn't even have been given the green light. Since it's been green lit, I guess it's the way it will stand. Not that I agree with the decision, because it opens just too many pandora boxes...

Yeah I'm kinda thrown off by this thread I don't know what to make of it. But if people are offended it should be closed plain and simple

And it does in my opinion break the rules of the forum in its own

I agree with most of you but in my mind I can't compare the movie Halloween to a porn film, not even the same thing.

In school kids learn about sex ed which is a part of life. They don't watch porn movies though.

My son and I sit down every Halloween and watch the tv version of that movie, he loves it. I just don't think animated games and movies are the same thing.

I think some of us are missing the point that Rene was making. I don't think he was straight up comparing horror movies to porn but imore along the lines of not everyone finds the same thing offensive. Some people like gore and to be scared and some people like well other stuff.
It sounds like they have setup a system so the adult oriented content won't necessarily be readily available for just anyone. Which is all we can ask of a site that reports on news and subjects that pertain to apple products.

I would imagine a site that's been around as long as iMore would have a system in place that prevents registered members who are younger then 18 to view these types of threads.

I can't stand how much violence there is in our entertainment media. It desensitizes people especially kids to violence.

However it is all over the place so it is hard to shield your kids from it, although it can be done with a lot of effort.

As for porn, the internet porn that is out there is by and large not about sex between equals. A quick search of the word "porn" will show you that much of the heterosexual porn out there is about degrading women, with sex being the tool that is used. Many of the porn actresses in this country have drug habits they are funding by the money they make in porn. Many of them have mental illnesses or have been sexually abused. And in countries with struggling economies and political systems, some of the women are doing this under the threat of force from their husbands or boyfriends so that they can take the cash. In third world countries some of the women are literally held as sex slaves. And just because a woman appears on camera as if she is voluntarily there doesn't mean she is.

Then there is the whole disturbing aspect of advertising the young adult women as teens, which they technically are at 18 and 19, but the point of the advertising is to focus on how young they are, which some viewers find more sexually gratifying obviously. Then there is the issue of referring to the women in the porn as sluts and whores getting blanked, etc. That is very common in the porn industry.

I am definitely not for government censorship, but I am for government protection of the sex workers, god knows how many of them aren't in these films voluntarily or are not of sound mind or are drug addicted. Many of these young women aren't thinking about how the internet is forever and these videos of them will last online well after they have gotten out of the industry. They are paid very little and being exploited. They are so young, they don't have the wisdom or maturity to realize that until it is too late.

What purpose does it serve? And if that many people are losing it over it would it hurt the forum to haul it down? Probably not right... But to be honest this thread is retarded I'm done debating porn on an apple forum.

Ah, only a man would say that. Did you even scan my post? NOT.

No thought at all as to how porn affects the female sex workers relegated to this as their life. To you it is just porn for your entertainment.

Go wank off to your porn dude.

Woah! Someone needs to chill out! Maybe you should relax and watch some porn.

If you don't like the idea of porn being on the imore website than just scroll past this thread! No one is asking you to read the article. It's not like he was showing us specific links to a specific video. The article posted was simply stating "hey you, who likes porn; here's where you watch it on your apple device." Sure it may be inappropriate but teenagers these days are already exposed to explicit and sexual tv shows and surroundings all the time. It's not like most teens who visit this site often did not know of those websites already. Seriously, I loved the article. I watch porn. It's not taboo. It's not something we should be ashamed of. Thank you for the article imore, it was very informative and I'll be checking out some of those links soon.

I think people need to lighten up on the moderators that showed concern for this post on the forum. It's their job to keep the environment safe and family friendly, and the fact that they spoke up when they thought this was inappropriate as much as myself or anyone else thinks it's fine shows that we have a good group of mods here trying to do their job.
