Apple acquires Twitter analytics firm Topsy Labs for $200M

Apple has acquired Topsy Labs, a social media analytics firm. The transaction is valued at more than $200 million, according to the Wall Street Journal (available to subscribers only).

That's actually kind of interesting.... though I'm not sure what they plan on doing with it. Doesn't seem to really fit into Apple to me.

Interesting acquisition. I have no idea where they could possibly intend to do with this, save for maybe taking another stab at social networking. Will most certainly be curious to watch.
