I-Chat/I-Message not working?

I-Chat/I-Message not working.

I'm trying to use my I-chat/I-message on my phone and it's not working. Under SETTINGS I have message ON and it says WAITING FOR ACTIVATION. I have powered off the phone, turned MESSAGE ON and OFF. Can't get past here. FYI I am out of the country, on AIRPLANE MODE with WIFI ON just like I always do when traveling. Also have CANDY CRUSH on my phone. When I click on the ICON it goes to it for one second then back to the icon. Don't know if they are related :/ HELP! Need the I-chat !!

try logging out of your apple id and logging back in
