External SSD, long term use

For those using an external SSD, to run the OS, have you noticed any long term issues?

I actually wanted to hear about any issues as well. I'm interested in getting one and would like to know if there are any problems with it disconnecting etc.

I do not own a SSD as external drive with OS installed on it, but I would think that an SSD external drive with OS install on it will perform in the long term as if it was installed into a computer SSD slot. I would like to think if there is a problem with the SSD in the long run, it will have to be an issue with the SSD hardware rather than the fact that it have OS installed on it while been external drive.
