Different user and hard drive names & Time Machine, is it safe to rename the hard drive and user name on my Mac now?

Different user and hard drive names & Time Machine

It?s a long story, but i had to restore my computer from Time Machine after using El Capitan. When I restored it, i tried to reformat the hard drive and ended up having a different hard name and user name than I did before. Is it safe to rename my hard drive and user name on my mac now?

I suppose so, but I can't understand why you would have a different username from what I assume to be a Time Machine Backup that 'you' made prior to installing OS X El Capitan. Everything should be as it was when you create the backup. At least that's been my experience, albeit, I've yet to restore since installing El Capitan.
