files automatically backed up to iCloud Drive

how to set my files Office and others to back up to icloud Drive?
I mean, example.... if I edit a file in PDF Expert it automatically back up to dropbox. So I have the file up to date. the sane in Notability. I change a note on the ipad and sync to Icloud.

I want to work MS Office files on my Mac, but want to back up to Icloud Drive, so I can, on my ipad, open the files , edit on the road and when come back to mac the file on mac is updated.

It seems to me since you gave a very good explanation of your knowledge in using files no matter how at the moment - All you really have to do is upgrade to iCloud drive nd be logged in so that the work you do and asking about will be able to then be backed up by iCloud Drive. Thank you for the information provided. :)
