Can see backup but cant restore

HI

i had an iphone 4gs and did a backup. i lost my phone. got a new one but when i login into my apple account it shows no backups were done. i carry on an setup as new iphone. when i go to icloud - manage storage - i see the backup that i want to restore. how the hell do i restore.......help

it will not let you select the back up?

usually when this happens that means the iOS on your phone is older than the back up. Is this the case? If you update your phone it usually lets you select it
