Based on the past several posts, it looks like I'll have to stick with Garmin Connect and Strava and skip the Apple Watch until they've figured out how to get data to sync properly with Strava.

I'd like to keep it as simple as possible. Is it possible to create groups and interact/encourage each other via the activity app?

I think we would obviously either have to share email address or cell numbers in order to share. Both the Apple activity app and Nike+ notifies friends when a workout or run is completed.

I suspect that the apple watch will soon be seamless with the Strava app.

For me Strava is the only way to go, that's where I upload all of my runs to. I won't be using NRC or the workouts app as long as they don't support Strava as I've got too much history on there that I don't want to lose. I'm happy for any one to follow me on there.

Really torn on what to do here. I'm really digging just using the built-in workout app! (suppose I'm not hardcore enough yet) lol

Well I suppose would could have sub-groups. Those that use certain apps..or..why don't we share with the built in app.

I think sharing with the built-in app is the way to go unless any objections.

Up for it. But I have a series 1 so would have to manage it with an app rather then watch

    I'd be in.
Does it need to be the Apple ID of each person or just an email that's associated with the ID?

@wesee - Got your PM. I'll add you, let's see what happens

    It worked.
So it does not have to be your Apple ID, just an email associated with your account.
I figure I'll make a contact group of people from the iMore Forums who add me.

Anyone else who wants in, can PM an email address to those you want to connect with.

James is the first person I have been able to share Apple Watch activity with.

The Watch activity sharing seems to use iMessage to allow you to message each other. It also allows you to see each other's activity rings, and sends notifications upon completion of a workout, likely goals too. I haven't noticed anything else.

It looks like you can give someone any of the contact info from Settings, Messages, Send And Receive. I used one of the email addresses other than my ID.
I would assume the phone number would work too, if you want to give it out.

If you use two watches doesn't it auto swap the info, and sync?

Because the messaging to the people you share watch activity with is iMessage, It would be easy to create a group iMessage called The iMore Running Group with all of us in there.

I mean my family member has a watch as well but on the same ID. I'd have to use my cell number. If you guys want to PM me, I'll be more than happy to join the group

I would be up for this. I like to see where I stack up with other people. Also makes me work harder at it and that can only be a good thing
