I work from 10pm-6am and am wondering what people that work similar hours do to help them sleep better.

I get home at 6am and then get the kids up and ready for school. I usually am in bed finally at 8:30ish.

Sometimes I sleep 7 hours, sometimes I sleep 3 hours......

I need consistent sleep but do NOT want to rely on medication if possible.

Thanks for your help!!

I did it for several years.... don't have to now... Make the room you sleep in DARK. And quiet... but a white noise/soothing music generator at a low level can mask some external noise.

The biggest - and most difficult - is keep the same wake/sleep hours on your days off... I know... very hard to do.

Another thing to consider... shift your sleep time to Noon - 8pm... think about how "normal" people live... they don't get off work, come home... and go straight to bed.... they work their 8 to 5... get off work... come home - and have an 'evening' to do chores around the house... whatever...
