Wifi calling is a great feature to allow you to use your phone even if you have little or no signal. Some carriers have had it for a bit, but it is now available with Verizon Wireless as well (with iOS 9.3). Check with your carrier for phone compatibility.

Once enabled, iOS will switch it on and off as needed, depending on your current cellular signal.

Go to Settings -> Phone

Once inside, just toggle the switch to enable:

Since the wifi signal will not provide 911 information in an emergency you will need to set an emergency address. This would usually be your home but use another address if needed.

That's it! When enabled and wifi calling is active you should see your carrier name change to let you know.

For Sprint, hit settings>phone>wi-fi calling>toggle>toggle on Wi-Fi calling on this phone>enable>update emergency address>put your emergency address and you are done. On the far left of your phone will read Sprint Wi-Fi.

None of these options worked for me. It wasn’t until I rebooted my router, that WIFI calling returned. I’m wondering if a router reboot is required each time there is a carrier update, or other update, from Apple.

You would think it would not, but hey, if it works then go with it until it don’t.

I've never had an issue with wifi calling. However, iOS updates can sometimes throw various settings off.
