The App Store has 20 categories for Apps, it is impossible to determine the best 5 apps overall, considering the large amount of diversity and uses. There must be categories to compare objectively and I have narrowed it down to three; Utilities, Navigation, and Games.

I absolutely LOVE Awesome Note with its ToDo feature. Great for making lists, notes, shopping lists, securing information, and just generally jotting down things.

I have been using Appigo's ToDo for a while now and REALLY like it! You may want to check out Pocket Informant. I t got an update recently that gave it a LOT of features!
