I have a question about Gmail on the iPhone that I'm hoping someone here will have the answer to.

I have a Gmail account on my iPhone via Exchange. Currently when I delete a message on my phone, it goes to the the Gmail/All Mail trash can. How can I get it to go to the main trash can instead? The reason being that I forget to check the "All Mail" folder and stuff tends to pile up.

With Gmail - that is the nature of the beast. It's Not a bug, it's a feature.

Does it work the same way if you set up it up through iPhone's settings and not through Exchange? (Although, I suppose, the negative is losing push.)

With Gmail, everything will always go to the "all mail" folder on their server by default, no matter how you set it up - computer email client or phone.

That is correct. I guess they want to give you one last chance to retrieve an e-mail that you didn't want to delete permanently.

Trying to understand this. I have gmail set up as gmail and when I delete something in goes to the trash.
