you need a mac, the SDK is free, but to publish on the App Store is $99...

the $99 also allows you to do "on device" testing, whereas the free SDK doesn't allow that.

Great books

I used the following books to learn how to develop for the iPhone:

1. Programming in Objective-C by Stephan Kochan
2. Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X by Aaron Hillegass
3. Beginning iPhone Development: Exploring the iPhone SDK by Dave Mark and Jeff LaMarche

Once you start reading and get a feel for the language, you can also read Apple's SDK documentation. They are very thorough & helpful. The books aren't free, but definitely worth the investment. :)

You definitely need a mac & the SDK.

Don't just learn it for your graduation project. Publish and sell your application at App Store and make millions of dollars like many iPhone developers. This is a big and wide road to success. Welcome to join us.
