To install iPhone 3.0?
My brother in law is an iPhone developer. Do they only get one"download" of the new firmware, or could iget it from him as well? I am listed as a co-founder in the LLC. Is it worth it to install the beta firmware to see the new functionality when designing apps.

What BadAsh said. App Store apps aren't listed as compatible with 3.0 either, so you take your chances they won't work, and you also have to be patient and willing to reboot as often as necessary when beta stuff does as beta stuff will do.

I use my iPhone for day to day and feel that aside from apps (only BeeJive for me) not working, it's a solid update (beta 2).
Also if you choose to update, ensure that your devices "UDID" (use Ad Hoc Helper) is added to the list of devices on your bro in law's dev account.

If you plan to test any OS 3.0 apps, then of course put 3.0 on your phone if you have no other choice. You will very likely run into bugs which may make your phone unusable and downgrading back to 2.2.1 is not officially supported. The best option would be to put the beta firmware on an iPod touch.
