How much data is 22,000 GB

Hello all,

I just got notification that my sudden link usage for this past month jumped from 350GB to over 22,000GB. First time this has ever happened and nothing has changed on my end other than experiencing sever lagging at times. Can someone tell me exactly how much downloading 22,000GB converts to? This is insanely high and I am at a total loss as to how this happened. Sudden link says they are shocked as well but still plans on sticking me with the bill. Wanted to get some background on how much data (movies, you tubing, WOW, etc.) this is before I go in to their office in the morning.

Thanks so much for your help.
Julie

If 1,000 gigabytes equates to 1 terabyte then you've allegedly used 22 terabytes. I can't even begin to imagine how much streaming that is, but it's probably nonstop....:)

Welcome to iMore!

That is 22TB of bandwidth. If you divide that by your current usage, that would take over 62 months for you to use that kind of data. I would certainly argue it. I would take my previous bills showing my average usage over a period time to make your point. You could run Netflix 24/7 for a month and not use over 1TB. I have 4 iPhone's, 5 Mac's, 2 iPad's, 2 iPod Touch, TV and never go over 450GB. And my sons are constantly on Netflix or YouTube.

Welcome to iMore! Unless you're letting the whole neighborhood use your internet I imagine that the notice you received was some sort of glitch.

Re: How much data is 22,000 GB

If this is on your home internet, change your password right away! Someone probably hacked into your wifi and is using it extensively. If its your phone, argue. There is absolutely no way a few devices can eat up that much data in a month.

EDIT: Just googled suddenlink. Its is home it says. I say change your password asap! I bet it's been hacked or compromised. You should change the password regularly. I do it once a month, to the angst of my family, but security over 22k GB of data.

Make sure that you're antivirus is up to date and running. It could be you caught a virus and it's in constant uploading modus some malware.
