I downloaded an app but it has a 1 in the upper corner, what is it?

I downloaded an app but it has 1 in the upper corner

I downloaded Mary TV from the apple store. I am able to use it with no problem, but there is a red 1 in the upper corner. There is nothing more to update but I can't gfet rid of the red 1 in the corner

The red one means there is a notification from that app.
Did you check if there is some kind of announcements or news tab in the app?

Yup, sounds like a notification in the app itself. Usually when you launch the app, there would be another 1 somewhere to show where to view the notification. If you don't want notifications on the app, you can disable them at Settings -> Notifications
