The top status bar is stuck down and I can't select anything on the screen

The top status bar is stuck down. I have an alarm that I am trying to turn off but I can't slide the screen. I tried to power off my device using just the top button and both the top and home buttons at the same time, but neither worked. Is there any other way I can turn off the phone? I am stuck on the lock screen so I cannot access any apps.

Welcome to iMore! See you holding down the home and power buttons for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple boot logo. If you're doing it correctly and your phone is still stuck then you're out of luck. You'll have to wait for your battery to die.
