Trying to update my primary email address and it won't let me. How can I do this?

Trying to update my primary email address and it won't let me.

I have moved and i need to change my primary address for my apple ID. However, when I try to enter it, it tells me it's already in there as a recovery email. i just need to make it my primary email and remove the one that's on there now.

Remove that email address as your recovery email first.
