why is Facebook Messenger dropping calls

Calling from Dubai hotel room with strong wifi, haven't spoken to wife in nearly a month, and whether video or audio it keeps dropping the call after screen says "connecting" for about ten seconds. First it rings, then says "connecting", then drops the call. iPhone 6, and it's never done this before in the year that I've had the phone

Sounds like a signal issue. Check with your carrier. You won't get anywhere with Facebook support.

You should have contact to Facebook support, or it may be possible that your your signal is strong enough but your wife's signal might be weaker.
