how do i get back deleted texts

I had deleted a text message that I now need to refer back too, how can I get back.

Unlike photos that go to a "deleted" folder, text messages do not. The only way to get the message back would be to restore from a backup that has the message on it, but you'd lose everything in between.

If possible, could you have the person that sent you the message send it again? My guess is no, but it's a thought.
