Why can't I see my friends pictures on chat

The little boxes that show my friends on facebook don't show up

If your talking about the messenger app chat bubbles.

I could be wrong but I believe that the size of your device has something to do with showing the photos

If you have a 6+ the photos show up but an i5 doesn't

I haven't seen chat bubbles in a long time. I think they stopped them. The little profile photos should show on all the phones. Not sure what the OP refers to.
