Why doesn't my iPhone screen respond to touch?

my ipone screen does not respond to touch

Battery is charged. I can see images on screen but screen does not respond. I cannot even turn it all the way off because the screen will not respond to swiping.

Welcome to iMore! Perform a hard reset by holding the power and home buttons down simultaneously until you see the Apple boot logo. That should fix your problem.
