Why won't Safari respond to mouse clicks?

safari will not respond to mouse click.

Everything works on my 2011 Mac Book pro but when I click on safari, it does not respond. I can hover over the icon but clicking does not illicit a response.

I can only assume that the installed Safari version is corrupted. I assume clicking on any other app is successful. Anyway, update your OS X version to the latest available for your MacBook, if you haven't already. If you have a Time Machine backup, revert back to a time when clicking on Safari worked.
