Let's take android out of the equation for a second and discuss google as a company. Chances are many apple users are also google users. Chances are you use google search, google maps, drive, gmail, google plus, or whatever. So , do we find that google, the company, is "creepy"?

I'm quoting creepy because I've noticed this word being tied with google and it's being used to describe the company by people like Jim dalrimple and some others. (Honestly, I'm beginning to find him more and more hard to listen to lately , but this in particular irks me)

Why would we consider google creepy? As far as I can tell, there entire business model is to collect and a frigate the entire worlds knowledge and make it accessible to all. The company has done great things for the world, just as apple has and other company's have. They give us maps, all the knowledge we could ever want or need in google search , global information with google earth, storage of our thing with g drive, and probably the best email service out there. Far as I can tell, it's a company who's existence and creation is to improve our lives.

But people get all spooked when *gasp* they serve ads because they, as a company , need money to continue to function. And they do the smart thing and use the data they collect to offer ads for items we may actually use or want given our past searches. I'd rather have that then the grab bag we get with other advertisements on other websites.

Yes , I fully recognize that google having that much knowledge and info is spooky, but they have done nothing to indicate they will abuse that power. And I think people are just being paranoid.

Anyway , rant done. I'm very curious what other apple users think of google the company.

I like Google Services, I have always thought that the best android phone on the market is a iPhone.

I've heard this said before. Why, out of curiosity? I find chrome not as good on iOS as I do on android, play music app dosent seem as fleshed out on ios, and gmail on android doesn't seem to have as much features as they do on android.

When Google showed off Google Now at Google IO in 2012, i was a little creeped out with how it gave suggestions for things based on your searches. Just something that comes with the territory of using Google. That's the only thing I found a little "creepy."

Don't know if creepy is the right word for it but in the recent years I got increasingly aware of how google works. Ten years ago I didn't think about data privacy in Gmail etc.
snowden, prism and my own thinking about how Google makes money make me want to turn my back on them which is not easy. I tried to avoid google search and used duckduckgo. The results weren't near as good as under google. You cannot really use YouTube without Google account and so on.

I recommend a movie called "terms and conditions may apply"!

I also watched several documentaries about Google and their future plans and these plans ARE creepy in my opinion. Looking at the past 10 years, I sometimes fear what the next 10 or 20 years might bring.

I've been thinking of switching to Microsoft, but I use too many of Google's services. I also need it for my Android Tablet since I've sold my iPad Mini.

To be honest I find people who run those bondage websites or porn sites and stuff, plus mailing lists for introducing their videos and whatnot, to be the most creepy. Not Google.

And to have Google provide links and thus information at anyone's demand at anytime, I don't begrudge any of that, even if they are a tad bit creepy.

I use a lot of Googles services, and they serve me well.
So I have no problems with them.
However, their functionality on IOS could use some improvement.

I use google services all the time. Sometimes I do get freaked out at how good google now is at knowing what I am interested in or where I am going. I find most of it useful though so I don't complain.

I swear, I feel like one day there will be some lawsuit against Google because someone got caught cheating on his wife somehow because of Google Now. Something like the guy who got caught cheating on his wife when a red light camera took a picture of his mistress in the passenger seat.

As Seven of Nine on Star Trek would say, it?s irrelevant for me anyway. I am in deep with Google and they offer great services. I have tried to change but I can?t. Google Search is unparalleled and I say this after doing a 2 month Bing challenge. (YUCK). So I use Google Search, Gmail, Google Calendar, Contacts, Drive (sometimes I use OneDrive but not as much lately). And Google is almost the only one that ensures almost everything works fine on iOS and MacOSX. MSFT, not so much (can?t sync my contacts and calendars on OSX). Creepy? Maybe but that?s irrelevant. I need them.
