Got my first Mac today and so far I am in love. I do have a few questions so far, I will most likely add to this as I come up with more:
1. I did a lot of remote desktop from my Windows 8.1 machine to other 8.1 machines. I do not see a RDP app preinstalled on my MacBook, I saw one in the app store for $80, is there any other options that aren't so pricey? What about VNC programs?
2. Goes along with 1, I use RDP from outside networks to get onto my home computer and have ports forwarded to my 8.1 machine and so on. Is this possible to do with my MacBook? Remote into it from outside networks?
3. What is empty trash vs secure empty trash?
4. How productive are Apple's office apps? Pages, Numbers and so on. Do they work for your needs?
5. I tried Airplay from my Mac to my Apple TV but it looked awful. On my Apple TV my Mac screen only covered 1/4th of my TV screen, is there a trick to make it full screen on my Apple TV?
Before my Mac I tried out the Surface Pro 2. It is a wonderful device and I liked the touchscreen and my biggest thing I liked was the pen, however I do wish it was compatible with more programs. I ended up returning the SP2 for the Mac because of functionality, on anything other than a hard surface the SP2 was pretty bad. The type cover 2 attached to the Surface on your lap is too flimsy.....way way too flimsy. When I decided the SP2 wasn't for me I looked at other W8.1 laptops but the more I thought about it I didn't like the direction where Microsoft is going as of now. I feel mobile OS's and desktop OS's should be separate. Microsoft is trying to be everything to everything rather than everything to somebody. It's not possible to be everything to everybody without something suffering. Anyways, thank you for the help.
