Default WWDC Logo: The Secret Meaning?

    WWDC Logo: The Secret Meaning?-image.jpg

One of the fun things about WWDC every year is the wild speculation that arises when tech blogs begin to pick apart the event logo in a search for clues about that year's keynote. This year is no exception. From Joshua Merrill at josh.io comes this theory:

Earlier today, 9TO5Mac posted a revealing story about Apple’s upcoming iOS 7 software, describing the all-new, flat design championed by lead designer Jony Ive. Interestingly, the story mentioned a unique color scheme for each app in iOS:

Additionally, the iPhone’s Notes app has replaced the yellow notepad design for a flat white look. Apps such as Mail, Calendar, and Maps have also gained a more uniformed look with flat white textures. While the core elements of those apps are mostly white, each app has been given a unique button color. Essentially, each app has a white base with a respective color theme. For example, the Calendar app could potentially have red buttons, while Messages could have green controls…

Apple has been known to drop hints about its upcoming releases in its press invitations, but there have been relatively few guesses about this year’s WWDC invite. Now it makes sense. Each layered color represents a preloaded app in the new iOS 7

Interesting....but I'm more curious to see if the update just brings an aesthetic look or will there be changes to functionality?

i really hope we're not just talking about "color" changes

i feel like Apple needs to implement more jailbreak tweaks like they did with iOS 5. if we get another iOS 6 debacle people's heads will pop off!

I agree to a point, Blink, especially with the scrutiny they've been under lately...

The apps that come pre-installed when you buy a new phone: Mail, Messages, Phone, Safari, etc.

I agree that it's the preloaded apps. The most credible rumors say that all the native apps have been redesigned by Jony Ive. They all feature one central, bright color with extremely plain and flat design. That logo points exactly to that. I'm really hoping they did a lot more than just redesign. I'm looking for new features and improved performance of all apps.

I'm jailbroken and I'm getting excited to see what is going to be different. I'm glad now that I'm a dev because not being able to run it until Sept. would just about kill me. So I'm happy that in just a few weeks I will be able to load up the beta. I'm looking forward to seeing this flattened UI and color changes mostly because I trust Ive. However I have never been in the camp that thought iOS was stale and being team Jailbreak it's not a concern anyway because I would just customize to suit myself. What I'm really looking forward to is new features they impliment or anything they change. The UI and color thing will get the headlines because that is the most interesting things to consumers. However I read they are contemplating putting toggles for Wifi, BT, DND, etc in the Noti Center and that is just one thing I'm sure there are other things that are coming. So that is really what I'm looking foward to seeing and being able to use. I have moved from the opinion of what they include will determine if I give up my JB to run the beta. Now I'm definitely going to run the beta with what I've heard so far so anything else is going to be icing on the cake.

I get a laugh every year out of people who put so much time and effort in trying to figure out the underlying meanings to things...when in reality, it was probably just a cool effect for the logo this year and nothing more.

Their logos and invites always reveal almost exactly what they are bringing out at that event.

Sometimes they hint at parts of the event...sometimes. This one is probably hinting at iOS 7's new logo...not some incredibly cryptic message about the details within the new OS.

To add...the reason i made my comment was really based on the title of this thread, "The Secret Meaning". I don't think there's really a secret at all, the WWDC is going to cover iOS 7, and the logo is probably the new iOS 7 logo...no secret meaning, no subliminal meaning.

Not bad assumptions. Looking forward to iOS 7 here. Half the fun of iOS is getting regular OS updates that is almost like getting an entire new phone.
