Apple cuts LCD panel orders for iPhone 5 on weak demand: Nikkei - Yahoo! Finance

it sounds like maybe the next iPhone (5S or 6) would use a different LCD panel (unlike the 4 and 4S)? If it's the same panel, why cut orders? They can use it for the next iPhone model.

It's not just LCD panel orders that are being cut. According to the article, other iPhone component orders are also being cut.

But that's OK. Nothing to see here. Move along. (Cue crickets)

I sense foulness afoot. Apple does not speak of these things. People that know, don't talk - and the people talking don't really know. And these are the first of many, many rumors to come in the months to follow. The only stuff to believe is that which quotes Apple employees by name.

So why doesn't Apple speak up and deny the rumors instead of letting their stock take a hit?

Apple doesn't comment on rumors and isn't concerned about short term stock price changes. They release information a few times a year at events and quarterly during earnings reports. The stock will surge back up when Apple releases their next official numbers.

Really? Apple stock has dropped more than 25% since hitting their all-time high last year. With that kind of performance hit you'd think that Apple would be concerned about ANY downward trend.

Apple isn't concerned with short term fluctuations. They have a strategy for 2013 and that involves an earnings report this month. That should straighten up these rumors and stock losses.

Interesting... The iPhone 5 "Cuts" - Branch

http://www.loopinsight.com/2013/01/...rumors-of-iphone-5-cuts-even-if-it-wanted-to/

Apple can’t respond to rumors of iPhone 5 cuts even if it wanted to
Posted on Monday, January 14th, 2013 at 3:34 pm. PT

Written by Jim Dalrymple
I’ve been asked a lot today why Apple hasn’t responded to the Wall Street Journal article saying that there have been massive cuts to iPhone 5 orders. The simple fact is, they can’t.

SEC rules prohibit Apple from talking publicly about the company. This is known as a quiet period and all publicly traded companies must adhere to these rules.

The Wall Street Journal can publish more of its “according to a person familiar with the matter” and there isn’t a lot Apple can say.

Apple is scheduled to release its Q1 2013 earnings on January 23, 2013 — next Wednesday.

When the Figures come out on January 23 as for the amount of iPhone five Apple sold you will see that this is nonsense and that they will normally reduce their inventory for the week months of January February March

People are waiting for blackberry 10. Not surprised apple cut orders

I don't think it's cause people are waiting for BlackBerry 10. The rumors were clearly dispelled yesterday with the earnings and sales reports. Millions upon millions of iPhones sold this past quarter. The only people waiting for BlackBerry 10 are the 10 faithful BB users, the CrackBerry team, and a bunch of executives that don't understand how to use an iPhone.

Don't shatter their little dreams.

Let's all start random headlines and see how many people on other websites we can get to run wild with it...

This just in! Blackberry cancels their new OS in order to focus attention on their Ostrich farming!
