If it's an app and not a tweak, then it's not allowed to make changes to the status bar

The status bar is pretty clear isn't it? So the color would just show through like the dock?

Yep, it is solid white and is transparent. Apps are using a unibody so it looks like a whole and not an apart status bar. (I hope I described it as I meant it)
