2 devices getting same notifications

Hi guys, I hope you could help me here.

I've got an iPhone 4S and recently acquired an iPod touch 5g. I use Facebook messenger for my communications and have it installed on both devices. I like to use the app solely on the iPhone from 7am until 6pm and on the ipod in the evening and night.

I've tried turning off notifications until 8am, but that goes across both devices so then I don't get notifications at all.

I'm assuming with a lot of people out there sporting a 2 device solution (ie iPad & iPhone) have either had the same problem or got a solution?

Would appreciate some pointers, thanks in advance!

Can you not disable notifications for Facebook on one of the devices via Settings - Notifications - Facebook?

Exactly..... Notifications are device independent. You should be able to turn one off and leave the other on.

I've installed ios 8 today and turning off notifications is a lot easier but still a manual operation.

No matter what method you employ, initially it will be a manual operation.
