messenger on ipad

Hi all
Just trying to put messenger on my old mums ipad for her to do vidio calls to spain with (its what the other people want to use )
but I cant seem to sign into to app with out facebook and she won't have face book on her ipad as she hates it :laughing:
if i put in email it says it cant find account and same with phone number i take it its looking for facebook account

It's been a while you can use messenger without a facebook account. I have had issues with SMS authentication on one of my facebook accounts, but seems to right itself now. Have you tried again?

give it a few hours, possibly 24-48, I have had issues since Friday my time, now it is Sunday, and just fixed.

You can sign with phone number you don't even have to have a Facebook account.

if i put phone number in it asks for a pasword ?
and if you just make up a password it comes up with incorect number this number dosent bolong to an account
