Right, my stepfather has decided to get a iPhone. He wants to be able to synchronise his data from his iPad Mini to the iPhone. I just want opinions on what generation of iPhone he should get. In my eyes he should either wait until the next gen iPhone is released or buy the iPhone 5 because of the lightning cable is compatible with the iPad as well. Anyway, just want your opinions on what he should do?
Thanks.

In other words, if one's Applecare-protected phone gets swapped out now, is it absolutely certain that the replacement will be able to access T-Mobile's HSPA+ network, and WIND and Mobilicity's networks in Canada? Or is there still some old stock in the supply chain?

We've all had it happen at one time or another, you reach in your pocket or check your bag and your iDevice is nowhere to be found. You look frantically for your iDevice and still can't find it anywhere? Could it be lost or possibly stolen? If so, this guide can help you keep calm and take the right steps in the event of a lost device.

1) Look for your iDevice

The first thing I recommend doing in the event of a lost or stolen iDevice is look for it. The easiest way to do this is using "Find My iPhone." You can check out an in-depth guide for that HERE.

2) If you can "Find your iPhone"

If you find it and it doesn't seem like it's been stolen, just lost, go ahead and get it! If it's been stolen and you found it with Find My iPhone, we don't recommend going to get it directly. We recommend calling your local police department, reporting your device stolen, and then letting the police go get it for you. It's always better to be safe when dealing with a possible thief.

3) Lock it down before you travel

Before you go to get your iDevice, you can lock it using "Find My iPhone" on your computer or another iDevice you have. Just tap on "Lost Mode" to display a message and lock your device down till you can find it.

4) The last resort: Erasing the Device

So, you've tried to find your iDevice and you can't. Whether it's not connected to the Internet or it's been stolen and switched off, you can always try to erase the device remotely. This is always the last resort to keep your personal information from getting into the wrong hands. You can activate the "Erase iPhone" feature in Find my iPhone, and whenever the device reconnects to the Internet, it'll be erased.

Keep in mind that the steps in this guide are just suggestions. Every situation is different, and so every lost or stolen device may require a slightly different approach. This guide is a general overview to help you keep calm and take a proven approach to finding your device and securing your personal information.

Apple will also be releasing a more robust solution for finding lost iDevices when iOS 7 comes out this fall. Until then, keep this guide in mind in case you happen to reach for your iDevice and realize it's not where it should be.

Hello everyone,

Over the last year I've really moved away from using Apple's standard iOS apps and began experimenting with replacements. Here is what I am currently using on my iPhone 5 / iPad.

Category - iPhone App / iPad App

Email - Mailbox / Gmail (Mailbox occasionally but I hate having to use it in landscape)
Calendar - Fantastical / Calendar.App
To Do List - Clear / Clear (iPhone app stretched)
Maps - Google Maps / Apple Maps
Web Broswer - Safari / Safari (too big of a pain when links automatically open up in Safari all the time)
Notes - Evernote / Evernote
Online Storage - Dropbox / Dropbox
Messaging WhatsApp / Google Hangouts (this is horrible on iPad)

What are you guys using? Is there a great app that you feel really strongly about that I should give a shot? Any interesting apps with special or interesting functionality?

Thanks in advance.

Immediately after picking up my replacement at the Apple Store last month, I noticed the bars weren't as high as they used to be at that location.
...

Immediately after picking up my replacement at the Apple Store last month, I noticed the bars weren't as high as they used to be at that location.

Sure enough, at home and elsewhere over a period of a month or two I noticed the signal strength is as a whole what I think is comparatively poor compared to other devices on my network. I've missed calls every now and then, calls going into voicemail without ringing or just ringing once. I even called my phone and it never rang. Direct to voicemail.

In terms of number of db values. At best, with LTE enabled within 400 feet from my local cell tower which it and my cellular provider are not AWS I get no better than 80-85 db. In other areas, comparing with other devices my iPhone is about 20 db worse. At home for example, on Android smartphones the reception is around 90 db but the iPhone is around 105-110 db. As soon as I enable LTE, the signal strength drops dramatically. If I disable data or just keep 3G on, db strength is fine.

Has any one else noticed this since the iPhone came with AWS? There is some info elsewhere that others have reported same, but not everyone has this issue with the new AWS enabled iPhone 5s
