Do you have to sign a contract to get service when you buy an LTE/4G Mini?

Typically no. It's on a month to month basis but if you want to reactivate after canceling you have to pay the activation fee.

I'm On Verizon... Just Paid Activation Fee & Now Month-To-Month, Which Is Only $10 More With The Shared Data Plan... Really Glad There's No Contract!!!
