Carrier Settings Update 12/13

Just got a Verizon carrier setting update after updating iTunes...

If you're not near a computer, you can go to Settings>> General>> About>> you'll get a pop-up to install... do that, then reboot the phone.

What version is it? I don't get a new version notification. Carrier v13.3

Thanks for the tip, Keith. Going to Settings-General-About didn't do anything, but when I connected my iPhone to my MacBook & fired up the iTunes app, I received the carrier update notice. Thank you again, my friend.

Mine is shows Verizon 13.0 -- not sure what it was before... and it's possible there are differences in version numbers in different areas of the country...

My carrier version was 13.0 prior to the update and have been that version for quite some time. Having said that, whenever I tap on carrier, I'm accustomed to seeing the PRL and then another tap to reveal the ERI. I don't recall ever seeing an MSID. That is revealed with yet another tap. Maybe it has been there all along and I've simply overlooked it.

May also be a PRL update involved... seeing talk in another forum where people are reporting PRLs changing. Mine went from 52986 to 53018...

I just hooked up to iTunes myself and the pop-up showed. Although I've also been on v13.0 for quite some time as well so that didnt change for me. As for the MSID, D - that has been there for a while also - maybe about or more that 2mths? I do remember it already being there right before i updated to iOS6 which was on the 17th of Nov. If that helps any lol.

Same here, Pink. The carrier update did not alter my PRL, and like you, I did the *228 thing and that updated the PRL to version 53018. Thanks for information about the MSID, as well. Enjoy the rest of your evening, my friend...

iPhone5 PRLs are automatically delivered... and one should NEVER use the *228 for PRL updates.

There is no need to. I've seen it said in other forums it can mess up an LTE sim. If you care to find out, feel free.

On my thunderbolt, the activation call would never connect.there were rumors that it would fry or corrupt the sim.

Ok so here in NC we got the 53018 as well back in December but just after the iOS 6.1 update its being reported that the new PRL is 52996. Whats up with that? It was 52870 then 52986 then 53018 now back down a version number. Back when I had 52870 ,my wifes iPhone had 52986 (higher version number). VZW told me that the 52870 was the current one and SHE needed to update. Sure enough when I updated hers she went to 52870. Then we both got 53018 soon after.

Anyone have any idea on how these version numbers work these days? Used to be they got higher as they got newer. Apparently no longer the case as the new one is back to 52996 now.

I updated my PRL after reading your post and it is now 52996. I'm in the Piedmont Triad area of NC.

Theoretically, version numbers should increase over time... but as roaming agreements change, they might sometimes revert to an older version before updating to the latest in a certain area.

Sorry guys I transposed some numbers yes 52996 is current and 52986 was the other older one I had referenced. Anyway interesting how they now can go down and be more current. I am in Piedmont Triad as well. Seems this PRL is also in Greenville area of NC too.
