Iphone 3gs question

My iphone 3gs isn't reading any sim card's. It is factory unlocked with apple. Anyway this guy that "fixes" iphones said that my phone has been jail broken into an ipad and it can't read sim cards because ipad's dont need sim cards. Is this true or is he bsing, how can i fix the problem ?

Jailbroken into an iPad?? No way that can happen. Cannot install iPad iOS version on an iPhone. Sounds like the phones sim card slot is damaged that's why it won't read the sim card
