High nightly data usage

Since I purchased my new iPHONE 5 I have noticed a large increase in my data usage. Here is a summery of this usage:
Time: 1201 am - 0141 am EDT
Amount each time: 527Kb - 31.305 Mb
Type: Internet/MEDIA NET

Does anyone have any ideas what is going on.
I leave WIFI off in an effort to save battery power especially when I am
not home.

I am with AT&T.

I may have found the problem. On the apple support forums I saw a thread that said check and see if under settings General > About > Diagnostics & Usage "Don't Send" was checked. Mine was set to "Automatically Send". I changed it to "Don't Send" and hopefully that will solve the problem. I'll see what happens over the next couple of nights.

Some apps send the manufacturer diagnostics data during times when you are not using the device (phone, laptop, whatever).
I wouldn't be surprised if Apple did that too.

Depending on where you are, privacy laws might or might not require that the sending is off by default, or that you are notified before any sending can take place.
