Bought the iPhone 5 for one line and need to switch it to another line

I bought the iPhone 5 using my boyfriends upgrade and I am going to need to activate it using my phone number. Does anyone know exactly how to do this so when I get the phone in the mail I can actually use it?

Don't turn it on and call customer service tell them what you want to do if they do it correctly you can avoid having to get a new sim .... Also refer to the other thread about keeping unlimted data it covers what you need also

If you do activate and turn it on, you would have to wait 24 hrs or get a new sim. I ran into the same issue.

Same here. But I only had to wait twelve hours to activate on my number. If your carrier is vzw, they can do it in twelve hrs instead.
