Switching iPhones while on a contract.

I currently have an iPhone 4 on contract with AT&T. If I buy the new iPhone factory unlocked from Apple, would I be able to switch out my 4 and use the new iPhone on my current contract without any fees? I can't see why I wouldn't be able to do this, as I'd just be replacing an iPhone with an iPhone.

Thanks! Then that's the route I'll probably go, that way I don't have to pay an early upgrade fee and get locked into a new 2yr contract.

This is what I did last October when I got the 4S, I'm gonna sell it now and since I didn't renew my contract I'm elegible for an upgrade..
