How long before carriers will put the iPhone on sale?

I have a really stupid question. I was wondering how long before iPhones usually drop in price by the carriers? For example, if the new iPhone is $159, how long before it drops to $99? Do you think there would be a sale around the holiday season? Thanks.

Ha ha! Yeah, I had assumed but was hoping maybe it would go on sale around the holidays. I did see the iPhone 4 was on sale because the 4S was being released.

There will be no reason to put the iPhone 4S on sale because demand will be so high. You put something on sale to stimulate sales, not to be nice....

Yeah, I guess I'm just used to BBs going on sale a couple months after launch, and usually around the holidays. Guess it's just not the same with iPhone. Oh, well. Thanks for the info. I still think the Canadian price of $159 for the 3 year contract at Telus is pretty decent.
